A high priority question for SWCS members in regard to flush of enthusiasm for bio-fuels should be, what consequences is bio-fuel production likely to have on soil properties and on related issues such as any changes in erosion susceptibility and on the water absorption capacity of watersheds. This is by no means meant to diminish to significance of the question of impacts on food prices world-wide.
